Mud tires and wheels for 2012 D4 - 18" possible?

Hi,

I was about to pick up 18" wheels and mud tires for my 2012 D4, but i suddenly have a doubt.
Is it possible to put 18s on a D4 MY2012?

Thanks

Cédric.

Unless there has been a change from the earlier D4's the Compomotives will fit. They were designed for the Bowler's RRS with the necessary clearance.

There have been rumours the 18" Zu alloys fit, but not seen anything confirmed.

Mud tires will be the issue as you will need to alter a bit of the chassis in the front wheel arches and flatten a seam in the rear arches along with lift rods as the diameter will be too much, AT tires are available without mods.

Gordon (disco4x4au) will be able to offer help as he has done a lot of work on this subject. Thumbs Up

Well, I won't take any chance with 18" zu as a mistake could be a bit "costly".

I will try to find second hand 19" and fit them with Wrangler Duratrack I think.

I already have found 19" wheels from a RRS. I suppose they are a direct fit?

The Duratrak looks like a great tire, the Americans love them in 18" and LR used them for the trip they just completed to China, would be nice to be able to get them here.....

You could always have a look at a set of these and get bigdave to courier them to you......

Not sure of the regulations over there, but here in Oz the RRS rims are not a legal fitment to a D4 as their load rating is lower.

The Compomotive 18" rims will fit the D4, but 18" mud tyres are generally too large to clear the wheel-wells without quite a bit of modification. Plenty of AT's though.

Cheers,

Gordon
