Stanhope Ford to close for good  It looks like Durham council has chosen to close the famous ford to protect the numpties from themselves  Although it looks hopeful that some rallies may still be able to use it. Cheers Ian

Sad! Last time I went through there I'd had a great drive across the moors in the Quattro and didn't realise quite how hot the brakes were until there was steam everywhere 
Some daft numpty wrecked a car in one of the Winterbourne fords a few weeks ago - they'd better not close them!

Hi Ian, Shame to see local councillors ignoring local wishes; all too common these days. (God I sounds like a grumpy old man). Though I guess in flood it is quite something to see.
