LR SERVICE CLIENT SATISFACTION |
|
Hi Everyone,
I have recently discovered that some of the LR dealer/workshops provide rather shabby service in RSA.
Example: advice to replace both diffs where it was absolutely unecesarry, tendency to replace expensive parts instead of actually finding out what is wrong and repair it
I propose to open new thread : SCORE YOUR LR WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE on 0-10 SCALE
I believe that this simple tool will not only save LR owners from being victims of poor service but that it will serve as real life feedback to LR itself and result in better quality service.
SCORE NAME OF WORKSHOP
0 LR Umhlanga Durban RSA
9 "The Centre" Durban RSA

SCORE NAME OF WORKSHOP
2.5 LR Centurion RSA
Had to give them some credit for trying to resolve - however the actual work done is not always up to scratch; for example I had to tell them that front diff is whining, that car is down on power - their response - their diagnostic computer does not show anything. They replaced front diff without hassles (thus score of 2.5); however the seals are leaking - have not even done a proper 3000kms on new diff.
Thanks Jack - I'm sure this will assist us in selecting dealers/indies when we need something done on our vehicles. NOW JUST HOPING THAT SOME OF OUR FELLOW FORUM MEMBERS COME UP WITH GOOD SERVICE RATINGS FOR DEALERS/INDIES IN RSA.

8 LR Centurion,
8 LR Nelspruit,
5 LR Witbank,
4 LR Polokwane,
3 LR Bedfordview,
Living in the bushes has necessitated using a fair number of LR workshops during the past 5 years.
I had a totally different experience (to that of vnitos) at LR Centurion. I currently make use of their services and have had the D3 services there 3 times. Impressed with the service on all three occasions.
LR Nelspruit is also good. Have had no problems with them in the past and will make us of their services again in future (if I am in the area).
LR Witbank could not fix a problem experienced on the cooling fan running continiously.
LR Polokwane once did not reconnect the wiring to the turbo. Try driving with a D3 TDV6 without a turbo. Not a nice experience.
Only had poor to bad service from LR Bedfordview.
I suppose the quality of service can change at any of the above if a new workshop manager is appointed.

hls, did you only have services done at LR Centurion or also repairs. the service part of my D3 seemed to have been done - its just the other things as indicated above and the fact that repairs were not done properly. Just another example, when I collected vehicle after wheel alignment was done during a normal service, the suspension was still in "locked" mode. I would love to take the car to another dealer/indy, but until they've sorted out the diffs, I have to take the vehicle to them.
just one question? who do you deal with at Centurion?

I had to make a flying visit into LR Walvis Bay (not RSA I know) after I ripped out the brake lines fording a river.
They got an 11 out of 10, for speed of response, customer service and mechanical knowledge.

The Service Advisor I use is Ansu van Staaden
I had other work done besides the routine service. This included fitment of aux ank, rear wheel carrier, roof rack etc.
I make a point of speaking to the Dealer Principle when I drop the car off. Maybe this helps?

Thanks dls.
I also "used" Ansu - unfortunately the workshop staff did not always play their role, even though I was with Ansu when she explained the symptoms of the vehicle. Also spoke to the the DP, but maybe not as often as should have. The challenges I've had thus far is with the workshop and their quality of work.

LR Bedfordview
Not sure what to rate them but crappy service overall. No correspondence throughout the day, picked me at
17h30 even though the vehicle had been with them since 07h00 that morning. Sulking driver as though it was
my fault he had to work overtime.
Vehicle was washed but mechanics had dirtied the inside grab handles with their greasy hands.
Air vent that needed to be repaired was adjusted....to a worse state than before.
Definitely will not be going there soon.

My ratings,
LR Bedfordview = 4 (Technically useless), they will score better for attitude, but that is not why we book our 3's
LR Menlyn = 1 (Do not think they deserved to be called LR)
LR Eastrand = 8
LR Silverlakes = 8 (new dealership shows promising service, had something small done, but excellent) 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)
2013 D4 SDV6 SE auto

Slightly off topic, but I hired D3 from Centurion LR, picked me up from JHB airport, I should have rejected the car but after 12 hours flight, brain a bit slow, had 5 hours to drive, quick stop before the journey I noted that tires where terrible 1 had cords visible and second developed bubble later, wscreen jets not working, no manual. They did bring me replacement tyre( just legal) which delayed my journey for 2 hours! Or is this tippical of 4x4 hire cars?this was in 2009,I did also hire a freelander this was fitted with new tires, better experience,
Bought diff and gearbox oils from Potch LR, only dealt with parts manager: score 6/10
He was a bit slow in finding correct oils, but offered to sell engine oil if I bring my own container( oil on tab nice), if only the price was more competitive, service area was good all new and one of the techy did help the parts manager to locate oils.
They did service my Dad's D3, 6/10, apparently never serviced a manual D3, nor done a xyz sensor calibration to get rid of yellow suspention light. A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
MY09EGR's blanked Thanks Bellautos, BAS

I've only used LR East Rand and always had good service from them.
the thing that stood out for me , was when dealing with the workshop
staff explaining an issue written on the job card, the vehicle was always
in view, and never did I see them look up, eye my vehicle and frown, as
if to say MMMM, need to speak to top management about this one.
Even on the 72thou service, I gave them a list about an arm long of
what I could think of for replacement, didn't bat an eye lid and fix it.
So I would rate them a 10 out of 10. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.
