Gas

I have to get some gas for the van soon, From when I bought it, It has a red and blue 7.5 calor gas cilinders and was wondering about the new BP gas bottles, Any idea how much they are and are they worth it considering you have to get a new value.

Thankyou Thumbs Up

Hi Curly

If you are looking at BP because the bottles are lightweight, Calor now do thier own Propane & Butane lightweight bottles than are more widely available than BP.

gas

hi curly
as advised above stick to calor,we only use red as it does not freeze as easy as the blue in winter, some caravan shops will also exchange the older, heavier 6kg bottles for the new lightweigh type at no extra cost, the fittings are the same and the bottle is about 4kg lighter, but it costs an extra £2 per bottle.
cheers

Sort of Off Topic
Dunc

Am I correct in thinking you have to take the caravan to get the gas filled not the bottles ?

correct, you can add a filler tap in the side of the caravan front store thing. I dont have it in the caravan but have one in the camping trailer - you just take it to the petrol station when you fill up the car and fill the gaslow bottle from the LPG pump. I was thinking of adding one into the caravan so ive got a calor propane bottle and a refillable gaslow bottle Thumbs Up

I've used BP gaslite since they came out. The gas is cheaper than calor propane, my 10Kg is a bit cheaper in total than the 6Kg calor lightweight bottle and I can carry 20Kg of it. Never had a problem changing it, Homebase stock it and so do many garden centres and as you can actually see your level you know when it is getting low. The only down side is the bottles are big and not all vans can take them.
