Twisted Performance - ECU upgrade |
|
Hi
Just had the ecu remap done by Twisted Performance in Thirsk , North Yorkshire yesterday
Wow what a differance a tune makes
The cars engine feels like it has had its true potential released, the off the line pick up is superb, no delays between gear change and on motorway cruising at 70mph when I needed to overtake and knock her up to 85mph lightning fast
I cannot believe the differeance this had made, also put K&n filter
I also have a AC Cobra replica with Rover 4.6 stage 3 V8 so I like a bit of performance - Cobra weighs 1 tonne with full tank of fuel and has 305bhp
Cheers
James

Sounds brilliant
Is it Twisted's own remap -- or do they have license to use another supplier's (e.g. Turbo-chip)?
What "guarantees" did you get, e.g. free remap if it gets overwritten by LR when servicing etc?
And, do tell, was it expensive? U can email privately if you prepared to give us a rough idea.
Other upgrades now costing in the region of £800 plus once you include VAT, I notice from recent ads in the motoring Daily Telegraph.
Many tks

Hi
The twisted ecu remap is actually same as turbochip I just went to them as local - They guarantee to redo for free if gets overwritten by Landrover
All we need now is for landrover to put the big v8 diesel in a disco and then ecu upgrade I think turbochip say extra 60bhp and wow approx 325bhp in an oil burner
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi tasmond, could you tell me the diffrence between my steinbauer and your remaps as i used to have a steinbauer chip on my td5 and it worked well so i went for the same on my tdv6.
Since buying some members have said they would not touch one but have not come up with any reasons why so i wonder if it is just personal choice or if there is a valid reason,if so perhaps i should change mine
Thanks

I'm not really the one to answer, I could be accused of bias as a TC dealer.

Ultimately a chip/remap is better as the tuner can change more parameters with the engine whereas a 'plug in' chip usually only alters either fuel pressure or injector timing.
In my early TC days we evaluated the Steinbauer chip on our own Disco 3 but found the performance lacking especially over 2800 rpm whereas our TC would hold the revs to 4000 if you wanted to drive the car that way.

Well Cobra - I see that you took my advice - Charley is realy good at Twisted Performance - he truely specialises in 4x4 vehicles and understands what he is doing - (not only does he supply and install the chip upgrades but he is able to incorperate other matched performance increasing hardware into the vehicle) -some upgrade companies are upgrading vauxhall Novas one day and then working on proper vehicles like ours on other days.
I have noticed an improvement on fuel consumption but that was not my primary purpose in getting the upgrade done.
I was talking to John Wright the other day at Jake Wright's and he has just fitted the full monty into a TD5 110 - upgrade chip - intercooler - hoses and exhaust system -
Again a significant improvement 2006 TDV6 HSE Remapped - Awesome -
1951 Land Rover 80 - Sheer fun

What's the situation re Warranty in having this done - does it not invalidate it?? I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
