Have a look at the Land Rover Owners Adventure Club - www.lroac.com who have a number off off road activities in and around Northants/Rutland/Leics and further afield.

You can also try Northant4x4. Great crowd, I have been out with them a couple of times.

Quite a few lanes in this area are closed in the winter to keep them from breaking up!
But they are well kept - or at least the ones I have been down have been. Mark.

Hi Rick
All the Northants lanes are shut until 1st May and I think both Bdefordshire and Cambridgeshire are also shut for the winter.
This leaves the option for a northern 'invasion' as the Leicestershire lanes remain open throughout the year.
Northants 4x4 are worth a look - it's free to register on the site and when you have a certain number of posts, the rest of the site will open up to you. We have an active N44 Response Team and the previous heavy snowfalls have seen us involved in getting primary care nurses around the county etc.
There are a number of local play sites (again Northants seem to have something going on every month) but I would be most concerned at dropping the D4 into Sibbertoft (another Leics venue...) as the mud is like grinding paste! Good luck if you decide that it's something you want to have a go at!!
Failing that, there's a bunch of mates (old Mud-Club meeting) who meet at the Boat Inn at Stoke Bruerne on the first Monday of each month from about 8pm to dish out well meaning advice and abuse and plan the next lanes... currently trying to get dates working for a trip to the Peaks and a one day event that sees us wibble backwards and forwards between Herefordshire and Welsh borders...
Hope this helps

D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

It's definatley worth checking out northants 4x4. It's a great bunch with plenty of events throughout the year. Next one is this Sunday at a site in Barnwell near Peterborough. I'll be taking the D3 for another play

I can vouch for the lanes around Northants- plus there's some good ones as well on the Warwickshire / Leics / Northants border area too. Give us a shout if you fancy meeting- I shall publish details when we go out again.
Anyway- there's 2 places left for 18th / 19th February trip to the Wayfarer and to Dolgellau- good lanes and a good B&B for only £65 per room. Let me know if you- or anyine lese reading this post- wants to go! D4 HSE in Stornoway- love it. Jaguar XF, MG TF, D2 ES V8 and 2x TR7s for playing!
Gone- D3- a fortune spent and now a lovely car for it's new owner; D2 G4 replica- Tangiers Orange and survivor of 2 Pot Noodle Challenge's!
