Will 255/55/19 fit on a RRS Supercharged 2005?? |
|
Hey,
I'm in need of some advice. I currently have 275/45/20 on my 2005 RRS Supercharged, but need more of a profile for off road. Does anyone know if 255/55/19 will fit? Or if a 55 profile on a 20" alloy will fit?
Any help will be muchly appreciated!
Many Thanks!

A 55 profile 20 (dependant uopn width) is highly likely to rub, but a 50 (like 265/50x20) would be OK.

I have 40 profile so would rather change to a 55 than a 50. I have emailed ajs tyres to see if they have the wrangler MT in stock and am currently looking for the wheels here is Spain! If anyone knows anyone thats selling theses tyres and or 19" wheels, let me know!
Thanks!!

I dont ever recall seeing a 255 or 275 in a 55 profile 20" tyre, so that may be a nonstarter anyway.

Al, the LTZ comes in a 275/55/20.
Danny Uberick bought a set but they unsurprisingly rubbed on his D3.
He was trying to move them on and had them up for sale. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I've now contacted compomotive alloys as it appears that they have a 18" alloy that fits the range rover sport with the brembo brakes (and the D4)! And allows for up to a 65 profile. I'm waiting for the reply, and to see how much they cost!

I know it's old but I suggest reading this 2008 thread from the RRS forum before spending anything.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic8378.html
In particular the quote from Compomotive saying their 18" wheels won't fit.
(Quote) "Thank you for your enquiry & we can manufacture 8x18 PD in the correct offset to suit the Range Rover sport. However unfortunately we have been told by Bowler who fit the wheels to their Nemesis that there is a brake fitting problem on the Range Rover Sport ROAD spec cars & the only way it can be solved is to take off the anti phonic dampers from the caliper… however you will then experience ‘screaching’ noises & the car becomes undriveable. So sorry unless you know of a solution for this problem it is probably best if we do not supply you with these wheels. (Unquote).
Good luck.

Bob,
That post was more thn 3 years ago. The world has changed, largely thanks to Disco4x4AU. They now do have an 18" rim to fit.
Best Wishes,

We have had this reply from Compomotive:
"However if you have the early Range Rover Sport model of car that is fitted with the Brembo branded brake caliper there is a problem with the steel blocks that are bolted onto the brake caliper itself.
These would need to be removed or relocated to allow the fitment of an 18†rim. These steel blocks are simply bolted to the rear of the caliper by a single Allen headed bolt.
Sorry to say that these is no way around this problem and such alterations should only be undertaken by a competent engineer. The blocks are there to stop a vibration squeal that the early cars suffer from when these blocks are not in place."
I have just wrote to GOE in Australia to see what they have done about the problem as they have fitted these on a new RRS with brembo brakes! Obviously if there is a possibility that the steel block can be relocated to fit the 18" rims AND still stop the vibration squeal that would be great.... just need to find out if it can be done and how!!! Be Prepared!

Now have a solution for the wheels (thanks to GOE, Austrailia), got the 18"rims in the post as we speak hopefully next week will have them on with some 265/65/18 BF Goodrich AT, just in time for the Spanish LR club meeting in Burgos next weekend! Will put photos up of new wheels and the route when completed! Thanks for the help! Be Prepared!
