I tried with an endoscope and couldn't see anything other than the temp sensor wires and leaves - because there was nothing to see in my case - but it is going to be tricky to get the camera is to where it located. At least you know the general area to poke at. I gave up and took the bumper off as you know.
From my "post bumper removal and re-fit" research - perhaps check fuse 7E(engine bay) - 10A.
If it is there you probably have the cable as this fuse is the BAT feed on pin 1 of the sensor cable.
I guess if it isn't there you don't have it as mine is unconfigured/empty, if it is you might be lucky and have the cable. Let us know as this might be an easy check.
Think this is best over at the D4 thread as I will be updating that one.In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Dear all,
I so hope someone with a lot more experience than me can help me with what I hope is the final, missing step to retrofit ACC to my D4 (MY2016), which already had the required wiring loom that connects to the radar unit.
The issue (or what we hope, the last issue is): the ACC-distance-control switch panel on the steering wheel, which we ordered is producing a “communication error”
= it’s seeing the switch panel, but cannot communicate with it.
Our hypothesis is that our steering wheel switch panel has an unexpected (older?) firmware (or part number) that doesn’t fit to my MY2016 D4 setup.
That being said: we are not aware of different “part numbers” for that steering wheel switch panel: there only seems to be one single part number for those distance buttons.
Question:
Does anyone here have a D4 MY2016 with a fully functional ACC, and could provide details to the part number (or software version?) of the steering wheel ACC switches?
Did anyone have a similar “communication error” and found a solve, as our hypothesis above might be wrong?
Many, many thanks in advance!
Raoul
Hi Raoul
Did you get to the bottom of this issue? I’ve just completed the install and getting the same fault code.
Thanks

Thanks James, I forgot to say mine is a 2016, I haven’t gotten around to calibration yet so not sure if this is part of the problem. I bought a new switch pack using the part numbers in this thread so hopefully it’s not linked to being an old unit as have seen that can also play a part. I also got GAP to send me the correct software for the radar and this has been updated. Feel like I’m missing somthing, might go back though the cff config later to check my changes are correct but don’t feel like they are wrong
Thanks

So it can be done on a 2008 D3 (per francescor75) but it won't work on my 2011 D4?

Unfair?- it’s a b d!It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I've been reading through this thread and am very tempted to try this on my new to me 2006 D3 HSE. Has anyone else other than Francesco managed to get it working in a D3?
Couple of other questions if someone could point me in the right direction:
1) What gauge wiring should be used for making up the loom?
2) If I mount the ECU in the engine bay (as kenny did), is it only the 3 FA wires that need fed inside the car?
Thanks

Hi!
Sorry for my english, I'm not native speaker
I'm next to retrofit ACC into 2007 D3. I've bought all needed buttons, radaк and block and I have some questions that not clear to me after reading this thread:
1. I have NNW502350 radar, but I've heard that radars with this exact number was used in RRS and in other LR vehicle (I forgot which exact RR), and despite it have same partnumber, it has different firmware inside, so not all radar will work in D3. Is this true? If yes, can radar firmware be re-flashed?
2. I found no pictures in thread about installing radar into D3 to it place, as it should be installed from dealer. Still no info on this? Maybe it can be installed but requires to change bumper or something like this?
3. I have Mongoose adapter and SDD installed, can I calibrate radar with it?
Thank you in advance!

Yes, but I have D3
Yesterday I got bumper away and tried to place radar to different places - with no success.
It fits to screw positions, but radar is much longer than bumper is (5cm or more to front), so I decided to make custom metal plate to fit it at center (just above of license plate). When I will install it I will post pictures here how to install it to D3.

I cannot be sure on the earlier radar units but the later ones can be reflashed with the new firmware required for them to work in a D4. Pat at Gap was able to supply the necessary firmware for updating using a GapIId tool.
