Use mine in sand mode on a regular basis, I take it yours is a manual
In standard mode it is fine but put it into sand mode and it's like of a shovel, with the fuel consumption to match

Sounds like you have an underlying problem.

I'd have to agree with that...test drove a D4 a few weeks back and was impressed with the pace...certainly not sluggish...trip to the dealers I fear... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I've only driven one D4, an early LRE one, and it was off like a scalded cat. I wonder if there is a turbo issue that has put it into some sort of safe mode, which it switches off when in sand mode. Allforus, you had any red triangles or RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE messages?

Got no faults up had landrover break down out and no errors this is my second d4 my 12 and it is like a slug struggle to maintain a steady speed slight incline its fit down and change down but in sand mode all is well apart from holding revs till 3000rpm before changing up going to make a trip to dealers this week car feels like I am towing my caravan but if I put my foot down to the floor it still goes ok so don't know what's up its as if the smaller of the turbos is not doing its job

Mine is not like that, it is quick off the mark in standard, very quick off the mark in S and very very quick if I select sand mode, that is for a 3 ton aerodynamic brick, but what a MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Having regularly driven a number of D4's I would suggest you have a problem as it should accelerate smoothly and maintain speed up even a steepish hill. I know the D4 is supposed to adapt to your driving style but it sounds like yours has adapted to a rather too sedate style or thinks you're towing a heavy trailer. Dealer visit recommended.

some cheap things to try before going to stealer.
check msf sensor, clean if necessary.
add diesel additive fuel system cleaner.
drive on mway in 4th gear at 70mph for 20 minutes to clean out system (injectors, turbos, egrs)
Any improvement ?There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
