Disco 4 wobbling steering wheel when braking
When braking in my disco 4, 2012 model the steering wheel wobbles just like you would expect with worn or warped front discs. I have only covered 3500 k in the car, mainly motorways.
Is it possible this could be warped discs?
Dreading the thought of dealing with stratstones service if it is

This is not from an LR expert but I am pretty experienced with other marques. It is rare for cars to warp discs; much more commonly you have uneven deposition of brake pad debris on the disc. The usual way to clear this is to observe the bedding in procedures on the disc pad instructions but if you still have OEM ones then 10-15 stops of mild intensity from 60 to about 5 mph should do it. Let them cool down before applying the handbrake.

there is a TSB for this.
had my steering rack, steering wheel changed . If this doesnt fix the problem then they change the pads and discs - which they did on mine. So yes, the discs may be warped.
i'll try and find the TSBDuncan

Yep, I suffered [am suffering] from this in my MY11 D4 Landmark.
But you'll find that your issue will be out of the VIN range that LR deem necessary for this TSB.
I know, I've experineced this issue every 3 - 4k since new - now at 16k !
All LR have done was to throw new discs, pads & calipers at it.
And yes, the problem kept coming back.
I eventually got LR to listen with a threat of rejecting the vehicle.
So last time it was steerring rack, bushes, hubs, discs, calipers & pads.
Fingers are still crossed until I cover the next 4k miles.
Good luck ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Wobbling under braking
Many thanks for your feedback. I will go to the dreaded stratstones and ask them to take a look today.
I know how slippery dealers can be on warranty to do with discs as i have had it in the past. Will get it sorted before the miles add up.
Many thanks.[/list]

Wobbling wheel update
Tried stratstones..... No technicians to look at the car or spend 5 minutes to test drive to see if it is worth booking the car in. Can book it in monday for them to look at and if they find anything, wiill book it in again to carry out the work..
Anybody know of a good reputable LR dealer in or around the Doncaster area?

If that's the dealer you bought the D4 from I'd get straight onto the Dealer Principle and also Land Rover Customer Services.
That's an absolute appalling level of 'service'!!
Yes, I'd move dealers and never to return - I did that with my previous supplying dealer where I bought my D3.
I've never set foot in that place again and since then bought my new D4 from my now present dealer....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

yes they should, 5400 is nothing and this just should not happen!...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
Much depends, IMHO, on the mechanic who does the work
and how thorough he is -not simply following the LR procedures.
It might be interesting to read those procedures; do they measure
run out of hub & disk etc..?

Wobbling wheel update
After doncaster stratstones appauling service, i complained to the sales manager who got the service manager to appologies but the damage is done now. They can shove this, future servicing and my next car where the sun does not shine. Have made arrangements with duckworths who come recommended and they believe it to be the steering rack as suggested on here. Will update next week. Car has only covered 3500 miles so its. Not very good.

wobbling wheel sorted.......for now
Landrover have changed both front disc and elimiated the problem for now.
was told the steering issues have been worked through for the 2012 model but they have had some disc issues. I was told the discs where "out of tolerance" and new discs and pads have been fitted. Appears much better.
Done in half a day by Duckworths Landrover. Maybe stratestone should leave the landrover name well alone before they ruin it completly and leave it to professionals.
