Has anybody else had this |
|
On my D4 MY12 I have experienced the exhaust sounding really "throaty". There is no loss of power it drives as normal. It then stops once I have turned the engine of and restarted. I have covered around 7k and its happened around 6 times. Any advice would be appreciated

Yes - I've heard that a few times... think it sounds rather nice so I've ignored it!

Could it be the DPF cleaning cycle?

does it,it is getting colder and the FBH sounds different to the old D3, more throaty sound. Always walk behind a Shooter and

Yep - strange exhaust note and burnt smell when you get out of the car.
Has happened a few times - normally with a run of about 10 miles or so but can't identify any common ground and don't think that it's FBH related as it is more of an acrid smell...

That would suggest it is indeed he diesel particulates burning off......I'm sure most dpf burn-offs require higher engine temp or at least 40 mph-ish to start the burn-off process.....so if you have had short,slow-speed journeys it may be more noticeable when it happens..... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Erm - certainly not slow!
For instance homee to Milton Keynes station which is high speed A road and dual carriageway all the way or the other time that I have really noted this is the trip home from Brackley which is 10 miles of dual carriageway virtually door to door.
In each instance, I have been giving it some beans (late for train, late for dinner... not sure which is the most critical!) and put it down to simple over-enthusiasm...
