Odd noise at low speed when applying the brakes

When I'm in city traffic at less than 20mph and I take my foot off the gas and then lightly press the brake there is what I can only describe as a low rumble from the gearbox area which is not present if I give the brake pedal a firmer push. I did not notice this on the various test drives I had. Is it just my driving style or is it something else that might need to be looked at?

I now think this is the brakes as I have had a good few days to work out exactly when the noise occurs. I'm going to get it looked at by the dealers as I also have a slightly more serious problem.

Are you sure it's not related to your accelerator sticking/mat behind the pedals issue?

No. One serving of humble pie is enough and the noise is there today much as it was from day one.

Brake pads worn out on drivers side?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It's not the pads as they were visually inspected by the helpful LR technician. I have it booked in next Tuesday.
