Ipod Connection for a D4 SE / HSE |
|
Hi guys,
Has anyone with a D4 SE / HSE, been able to sourse the cable connecting your Ipod to your D4 from a retailer other than an LR dealer?
The main dealer in Cape Town, wants over R1'000.00 for this cable and no-one else seems to stock them
I've tried a cable that connects via the cars USB port - but while the car knows something is there, it can't do anything about it!

On this subject, has anyone managed to source a LONGER cable? Dunno if the D4 has the same issue, but in the FFRR The little short curly one is a pain in the ass if you want to use it with iPhone, cos it is a fiddle to get it connected way down there in the bottom of the console

Yup, the cables should arrive tomorrow.
On the subject of the iPod cable - some on eBay yes, but at this price you may as well buy from a local dealer

Is it true that the iPod interface cable is the same as the BMW? If so maybe their spares dept are less greedy than LR?

OK the dock extension cables arrived right on time.
Worked in the RRS
Didn't work in the FFRR
The iphone4 wasn't even charging....but it charges when plugged direct into the iPod cable...
So, I had a gander on the web, (thanks http://www.nothingbuttablets.com/814)
and it seems I need to connect pins 1 & 2 - aud/vid GND and GND
works great now, charges the iPhone and the vehicle accesses the data, just like it should.
why isn't the cable shipped like this in the first place?

so that they can sell you a new cable every time... they should just solder all the pins...
