HTC Desire and Bluetooth issues

hi, I've a new MY12 D4 HSE.

I have paired my HTC Desire phone (which is shown as a compatible model), however after a few moments of being connected, the display on the touchcreen states the phone has been disconnected. However, the phone still thinks it connected.

Has anyone else seen similar behaviour..?

I've tried a Samsung Galaxy II, which mainly stays connected (although does drop sometimes), but gets terrible echo if someone calls me. If I dial out, it works fine.

This is the one area of the car I'm not happy with, so any help welcome.

cheers

Simon

Although mine is a 2011my I had similar problems to you a couple of weeks ago, I solved it by deleting the connection on my Desire and starting again with the pairing and it's worked as expected ever since.

tried that, even reset the phone back to factory.

however, good to know it works for you, so maybe my phone or the car is not 100%.

one thought, the compatibility list shows a slightly older version of software on the phone tested, I think mine is 2.2. What version is yours..?

cheers

My Desire works fine in the D4my12. I did have similar issues when I first connected it, andhad to unpair it and go through the process again. Becareful when you do this as there is a tick box to accept that asks if you want to auto connect or something like that, i did not sellect it first time and had same issues as you, re did process and all works fine now.

how did you get V2.3 on your Desire..? Latest I can get is 2.2.

had to take car to dealer today as touchscreen went blank. Seems its a known fault and needed a software update to Nav/touchscreen module.

I asked if this has any updates related to Bluetooth but they said that BT is a seperate module, so unlikely.

I've re-connected phone and accepted the option to always allow connection, but after it has connected, it disconnects within 30 seconds and when the car tries to reconnect, it fails.

Samsung Galaxy seems fine, so I'm assuming a phone issue at the moment.

cheers

Simon

Mine just says "Android Version 2.2"

Would like it to work, as I prefer my HTC Desire to the Samsung Galaxy..Wink

Answering my own question, I found this link to V2.3 for the Desire.

Am about to try it, fingers crossed...!

Our two year old HTC Desire works perfectly with our one year D4 - it also works perfectly with our Garmin Dezl - which we use when we have the 'van on the back as it (Dezl) is vehicle size active whilst the OEM D4 ain't. Thumbs Up

2.3 doesn't leave much memory for apps. This may not be an issue for you, but it was for me as I had a few things like Spotify, Copilot and Viewranger installed. It did solve the Bluetooth problem for me. [Just realised you have a D4, but hopefully it'll still fix it!]

Good luck with the 2.3 upgrade. If you don't use lots of apps you'll be fine!

Yippee..! V2.3 fixed the problem, so I am a happy bunny.

As you said, memory has always been tight on the Desire, so I guess I'll need to be even more careful what apps I load (that is the only benefit of the Galaxy, tons of memory for apps), but the widgets are nowhere near as user-friendly as the Desire.

cheers
