Hi
should have taken a picture i guess, but still can do if needed. iwas cleaing the cup holders just in front of the cubby box on my 2012 D4. as the hole mount was loose, i removed it, to see if i could fix it back propperly, undeer the cupholder, there is a red nylon pull handle attached to a black peace of plastic, that swings out. not sure what this is, but what ever, it was loose.
i have turn the locking pin back to secure it but i am wondering what it is for, and does?
can anyone help? Cheers

Anything to do with allowing it to be TOWED without keys being left in car and gearbox in neutral? Otherwise it shuts automatically into park, after a little while, even if you have left it in neutral initially.
This may be why they say "don't tow an automatic without contacting LR Assist" so they can come and remove the cup holders for you If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

Hi
forgot to ask the dealer, but have a day at the LR off road place at Dunkeld last week, the instructor informs me it is for releasing the park brake when it gets stuck on.
hope this helps. Cheers

On the XF which has the rotary gear selector, it was jused to select Neutral to allow towing - or in my case, to get the damn thing back on the drive when the selector jammed in R. If you have the MY12 it is probably the same. If not, dunno 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT
