My interior customisations

I've now finished my interior.

I've got the polished aluminium cup holder and gear shift surrounds.

Yesterday I fitted my piano black facia kit I got off eBay. It looks better than the photos show. The LR accessories brochure only shows 'grey birds eye maple' and 'burr walnut'. Anyone know when the 'piano black' was available or did this come out of a special model or an overseas model?

I've also got two Brodit ProClip mounts (653573 & 653572) for my SmartNav touch screen and phone holder. Phone holder is from Brodit, so my phone/pda is charging and easily accessible, while using Bluetooth.

Now with two sat navs, two handsfree car kits (bluetooth & SmartNav phone (in comming only)) and my Talex camera detector, I'm all setup. I just keep hearing almost constant voices though!

More pics in my gallery at http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=434

I've also got my DVD screens mounted in the rear on Brodit headrest mounts, with the DVD player in it's bag on the floor - so my daughter can watch a film.

What else can I bling it up with?

Ah, your RRS heritage is starting to show through! Wink

Looking forward to seeing the piano black trim in the flesh. Is it wood effect, or just black?

Wow Smile You'll not get bored. Is the Smart Nav better than the LR sat nav or is it a different thing? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Not the 'hole-in-the-grill-filled-with-chicken-wire' treatment, please.

It is just shiny black, which is a shame. It would of been great if it had a slight wood effect.

Yes, RRS heritage is showing through. Did you ever see my black VW van? That was pimped up too. Smile
I've always found the D3 interior a bit too much grey plastic. They look better with the light interior, but the black interior models look too dull and slightly 'cheap'.

It will look even nicer when it has a nice layer of dust/mud/fingerprints and sand on it Razz

Yes, the SmartNav sat nav is soooo much better than the LR sat nav and all the others too. However, until you've used one, you don't appreciate how good it is, because it doesn't look much.
It doesn't have a colour screen or maps, but it does have far better/intelligent routing calculations, knows about road conditions and does proper detours around congestion, always up to date and you can go to places that aren't on the map or database. As you talk to a control room rather than typing in your destination, using it is easier and can be done on the move.
Time and time again, TMC has let me down and when stuck in traffic the LR system just cannot route me out of it. Yet SmartNav can and much of the time you are diverted off before you even see the hold ups.

Now I have the best of both worlds. I can use SmartNav for my routing & traffic info and have the backup of the LR screen for a map as I drive.

Winger,

Fantastic screen install. Looks great.

I'm doing all mine on a tight budget. My £150 twin screen DVD player I've had for about 18 months now and it's cost £60 to mount the screens in the D3.
The black facia I picked up on eBay for about £50+delivery, which was an absolute bargain - the LR price is over £400!
The SmartNav has been in three previous vehicles, so all paid for and was just sitting in a box. Just cost me £40 for a new dual GSM/GPS screen antenna.

The piano black fascia's really make a difference. Anyone know the part number for them. Didn't know if they were LR specials and D3Mat says or from abroad etc.
