Peak District Trip 29th October with landrovernet.com
Just got back from an excellent day out in the Peak District with the guys from www.landrovernet.com
First off - I didn't get to do Stanage Edge - we took so long getting up there that a combination of fading light and my bottle having gone (read on to see why) meant I gave up and came home at the car park at the bottom.
The route partially covered where we went in July only most of it was in reverse - much trickier gentlemen!
Here's the group that I was leading -
We traversed The Roych with no difficulty - lots of praise for the D3 8) after having wasted about an hour whilst a standard 05 Freelander struggled up (burst a tyre but otherwise undamaged) and a Disco 1 with no difflock and standard road tyres got stuck on the steps andhad to be towed in the end
After having gone round the back of the Quarry at Castleton we descended Pindale - what an epic!
Finally got some articulation out of the beastie - this is a 3 wheel 2 wheel 3 wheel balancing act!
Fortunately I'd missed a turn and the RR Classics went first down Pindale - which was a good thing for me because one of them caught a flying rock and ruptured is petrol tank!

Might I suggest driving forwards next time - the views much better!

I have always sung freelanders praises....probably cos I had one for 3 years!
Roych steps was the culprit for damaging 2 of my alloys whilst going down, did you pick up much damage this time whilst going up.
On the D3 peaks weekend we saw a Disco 1 absolutely scream up the steps in low range bouncin all over the place, proper daamage must have been done, there was a little bravado present I think due to 4 D3s having just calmly edged down and then having a sandwich while watching him. I take it you lot went up more deliberately.Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"
I would Reply:

@CrazyDave - not a mark on mine! And I had to thrash it somewhat to get up! What I haven't mentioned is the steep hill at the back of Bamford - remember that little lane? That is another sh*tbag going up rather than down! The Disco1 got 50 yards up that and ground to a halt and went round the long way

I do remember the one at the back of bamford, that was quite steep and potentially slippy in July with a little rain. Must have been like ice now! If I remember right the worst bit was at the start...or your end as your doing it backwardsCaptain Nick Medhurst would ask:
