Slow Fuel Filling - Complete Fuel Filler Pipe Replacement

Since I bought my D3 (diesel) in Aug 12 its been really slow to fill with diesel foaming in the mouth of the filler neck. I posted on here and a couple of other people had the same issue with no resolution found.

I finally mentioned it to my Indie today as the cars going in for a new passenger door lock actuator and I asked if he had one of those flexible inspection cameras to see if anything was jammed in the pipe down to the tank.

When I descibed the symptoms he imemdiately said he knew what it was and suggested swelling in the pipes which allow air out of the tank whilst fuel is going in and proposed the only real solution was complete replacement of the assembly from the neck down to where it goes into the tank. I assume the assembly will come with the breather pipes and this will solve the issue.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

If anyone has had this done did it solve the issue and what were the costs involved?

"Never assume, check" would be my sage advice. Whistle

This sounds very much like the breather tube in the filler neck. This happened on my Disco 1 which had the exact same issue and the only resolution was to replace the entire filler neck. I believe the design is same/similar in the Disco 3.

The cost = not cheap but what you gonna do, you can't spend 30 minutes to fill up with one tank of gas.
