My 2010 D4 XS gives occasional amber warning when accelerating uphill that 'engine oil level monitor failed. System fault'.
I followed the book on checking the oil level (hot, level ground, wait 10 minutes). It showed oil at Min but with words 'Not available'.
I consulted firm who do much LR stuff. 'Better to wait until cold', they said. I did that and it worked perfectly. Oil level at 75% so no need to add any.
RTFM is sometimes good advice. I'm not so sure with D4 handbook which seems to me to give far too much space to warnings to cover LR's backside.
