My 05 Disco 3 has just cleared 100k most of it working very hard indeed. Pretty damn awesome vehicle! When accelerating hard there is a tremble/ vibration which seems to come from the front nearside. All the wheels have been balanced, it's an intermittent thing, and goes away as the speed builds. Its not got any worse over the last 25000 miles but bugs me a little. If anything it seems a little worse if turning left at the same time. Any ideas?

i had what i thought was a wheel bearing on the way out it felt like a rumble through the steering wheel turned out was front diff and they then found the rear diff as well both @75K miles ....might be worth checking your diff's ...look for swarf or metal particles in the oil ....

nip in to see John Ottons at Westover LR, Salisbury, they'll stick it on the rolling road to find out.
Could be a few things from personal experience:
1) Brake pad slider siezed
2) Brake caliper knackered causing uneven wear on the pad to one side
3) EPB binding on one side
4) Bushes
5) In effective balancing of the wheels, common if yer have stick on weights and use wheel cleaner
6) Clutch slip
7) Gearbox judder (very common now on auto boxes)
the list goes on
BTW it could also be a series of issues and you're just noticing only one of em
Word to the wise, don't ignore the problems for 2500 miles as these D3's have a habit of giving yer a nasty bill if you do

I followed Characters advice and got my Disco in to my local independent for a check over. Diff they said "loads of money". They seemed a little too keen to rip my axle to bits after a cursory prod about so I popped in to the local main agent who diagnosed the diff without leaving the service desk! What a guy! A rare talent indeed! Again "loads of money" quoted and very quick to discount drive shafts and wheel bearings.
As the problem wasn't getting any worse I decided to investigate it myself as, having owned a Disco of one sort or another for twenty years, I'm no stranger to Land Rover entrails all over the drive. I quickly found both front wheel bearings virtually seized solid and rusted in beyond belief. It took three hours to get both the hubs off which taxed my patience and strained my puller a bit too!
Reassembled with new hubs the difference is startling , a transformation for £200!
The post script to this was a comment from a mechanic who used to work for the same independent I visited. " They always say its the diff, can charge a load for it, most customers are clueless and have no idea they are being ripped off"
Beware!
