EPB warning lght and clutch failure

My 59 plate TDV6 Disco 4 manual has come up several times with parking brake fault, automatic release unavailable. Sad
I had it fixed... recalibration of switch. It has happened again so I took it to the main dealers. To my astonishment they say it needs a new clutch as the clutch wear is outside the parameters of the ECU. But to confuse things the EPB fault comes up... why not just say Clutch F....d !!!! Mad
It is being done under warranty.. BUT I've had lots of landrovers over the years and have never had a clutch go. My Disco 4 has done 24000... thats not very good is it.
My 200tdi Range Rover did 150,000 odd when I sold it on the same clutch. Are modern clutches just poor ???
However, Taggarts of Motherwell have really been excellent and kept me fully up dated so hope to get it back soon. Thumbs Up
Posted this more for Forum information than responses. But as anyone else had a similar issue??

D3 clutches are known to be weak so as I am sure they wouldn't have bothered changing it for the TDV6 D4 (presumably the 2.7 engine) the D4 clutch will also be a weak link.

I use low range for any moderate hill start esp when towing and always avoid slipping the clutch. I too have never had clutch problems with any other LR and I have had a few Whistle

I had it from an ex LR employee that the D3 clutch is known to be not up to the job, that said if you treat it with care and protect it by using low range then it'll last. I have no trouble from mine. Thumbs Up

Forgot to say only picked up the car 2 weeks ago. I also use low box for alll steep hill starts and reversing with my boat/ trailers. definately best not to slip clutch.
But i do think the EPB system linked to clutch is over complicated. Would love a proper hand brake... so simple. Why do they try to make everything so clever and useless/ unreliable.
I managed for years with out gradient assist ,hill descent and all that crap
I stll love the Disco though. got a DEfender at the moment... Geee its hard work . I'd forgotten what animals they are !!! Rolling with laughter
