Nexen tyres.....any thoughts?
Hi all,
Has any body had any experience with NEXEN TYRES / 4X4 / NEXEN ROADIAN HP - 265/50R20 111V XL.
I have currently got RRS wheels with 255 50 19 (came with the car unfortunatley, its a shame because the wheels and tyres are almost new) and want to change to 20 inch wheels and tyres without going silly on budget.
I do not intend to take off road other than a dodgy slipway and milage is under 4000 per year.
Many thanks Mark

I Had some ffrr wheels on d2 with nexen Rodians on
They wore very well (did 20k and you could hardly tell) and gripped fine on tarmac but d3 is a different beast so they may not go aswell on that have heard some bad reports but my experience has been good

I have them on 20" stormers and have proved fine so far, had a few emergency stops without any issues, 4k miles per year then I don't think they would give you any trouble but it's all personal preference I guess. to finish second is to be first last !!

Yup, same here, had them on my D2 from purchase to sale 4 years later, around 8k a year and still looked new.I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

They are ok for a budget tire...here dealers put them on used vehicles for selling. Not something I'd buy, but I wouldn't be trying to get rid of them if I bought a vehicle with them. You could get better performing tires for just a bit more...JMO.17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Thanks to all for your replys,
I think i will maybe have a look at paying slightly more for a better performance, it will all depend on how much i can sell my current wheels and tyres for.
Thanks again.

I ran brand new 275/45x20 Nexen for less than 1000 miles - couldnt take them off fast enough - absolutely horrible tyre. Too much movement, car felt unstable at speed - handling poor - would not do that again.

Well, that is an interesting differance of opinion from Mark the spark and al.... do you think that is down to the size of wheel, i am looking at getting 20's or maybe one of you driving like Miss Daisy (off course no offence intended) or maybe one pushing too hard (again no offence intended).

maybe down to driving style and conditions. At the time, most of my driving was belting it up and down the motorway, so I was after rock steady, high speed handling - I'm afraid the Nexens didnt get close - the 265/50x20 Yokohama ST's I run now stick like glue by comparrison.
Over to Miss Daisy
