Intermittent blower/fan operation
My heater fan has started to operate on an intermittent basis, all the lights come on and one can hear the various flaps in the ventilation system moving but the fan does not always operate.
If the unit is turned off and then on again then sometimes it 'wakes up'. Any clues as to what I need to replace to fix this? Control pack maybe??
Another thread a long time ago in a galaxy far........ wrote:
With ignition off press and hold the ECON & RECIRC buttons whilst turning ignition on (no need to start car).
The control module will then compare the current HEVAC actuator motor positions with the values stored in the module and will indicate an error by flashing the ECON LED.
If there are no errors, the LED will go out and the system will function normally.
To confirm that there are no errors, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.
Observe the operation of the programmed defrost LED.
If there are errors present, the programmed defrost LED will flash and the system will attempt to calibrate itself.

Well alas it is not sorted - doing the HEVAC self test and calibration sometimes boots it into life but it soon decides it has had enough. So the problem is still current, any other ideas or suggestions welcome.
To re-cap, all the lights on the system work and the flaps inside move but the blower declines to blow. It starts to work in as random a fashion as it stops working usually after a knob is turned or a button pressed on the HEVAC

Have you tried swapping out the fan relay with another of the same type in the engine bay fuse box ? Quite common for these to play up, and not expensive if it is duff.

Thanks DN - I now have a heater fan again (but no headlight washer jet).
So it was a simple and cheap fix - just like so many jobs on a D3

Hi to everybody, I have the same problem; I have already changed the relay and for an a few times have worked but now started over working randomly. Pressing at times on / off leaves again and at times no. Some idea?

Have you tried a HEVAC self test & calibration?.....Another thread a long time ago in a galaxy far........]
Slimer...where the heck did you get that data from ?...very impressed...my HEVAC system threw a wobbler some time ago & I just wondered whet the dealer did to sort it (& charge me a lot for).....
I just wonder if there is (or will be) a manual with all the magic button pushes & fixes that can be done......BREXIT - done properly.

If the relay fixed it for a while I guess it could be the relay again, or perhaps it needs seating down properly. If 2 relays have gone but a third seems to fix it then it may be worth getting an auto electrician to have a look at the wiring and connectors to understand why it is eating relays. It would not be the first time a connector has worked its way free of the fuse box.
I also suggest a visit to a dealer or someone with a faultmate to see what, if any, fault codes are showing on the HEVAC system.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
I copied it from your post as I'd seen it there most recently but it's much older than that, I think this post may have been the first time it appeared on the siteThe End
