Our ZF auto boxes are quoted as: -
“Discovery 3´s advanced 6-speed automatic gearbox features adaptive mapping, giving it an ´intelligent´ capability to adapt itself to your driving approach.â€
But how quick witted are they?
Does this take a few seconds, a mile or two, an hour or so or 500 miles as has been suggested in another thread? I really don’t perceive anything “adapting†but it’s my first auto.
Personally I doubt whether I have a consistent style myself. One day I am towing, another I am solo. I drive on country roads, town roads and get stuck in traffic all in a single journey; each aspect involving a different driving style. Then I run out of time and switch quickly from my normal sedate pace to something more aggressive, and it’s with me!
I can’t say I notice the vehicle changing is own nature; it just seems to respond virtually instantly to mine.
