Electric fans
Hi,
I understand that the D3 has an electric controlled Viscous fan...
I would like to get rid of the viscous fan, and install Electric SPAL fans...
can I use the contact of that Viscous controller for ON-OFF of the electric fans, or am I missing something?
kind regards
Henry

why do you wnat to do this...? Is the fan not working enough for you or some ther reason? Or just because that what happens with older vehicles?Bodsys Brake Bible
The viscous fan is extremely efficient. The electric side is PWM controlled - and not just from engine temperature ether, but also the AC.Mark.

When I made enquiries of Kenlowe, the electric fan replacement specialists, they advised me that they were unable to make an electric cooling fan for the D3 due to the complex wiring/sensors etc. associated with the EMS. LR technical were unwilling to assist them!Happiness is a warm ruck
I have it on very good authority that Kenlowe's claims that their electric (or any!) fans are more efficient than a correctly working viscous fan is rubbish.Mark.

I had a Kenlowe on my Defender . Worked very well , but draws about 30 A . This became a real issue when I was overlanding and needed to charge my aux batteries , as too much was going to the fan and not the batteries
