Locking........locking the D4

According to the manual if you lock the D4 the first press is for when somebody or animals are left in the car (very seldom) and the second press "dead locks" the car and activates the motion detectors inside the car. Is this correct ? cause it seems stupid to me, the D3 was the other way round and i.m.h.o. much better that way. Can this be changed?

Yes it is correct and yes it is the reverse to th D3, but to me is makes sense as most of the time you'll use the buttons on the door handle to lock the car and only take the remote out of your pocket/bag if you need to do something different - like, erm perimeter lock it without the the ultrasonics
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Not according to the manual, it clearly states that the button on the doorhandle must be pressed a second time within 3 seconds to double lock the vehicle.

Theres a distinct click on the second press.

Only spotted this after reading this thread, cheers for pointing it out.

I have never used the button on the door to lock the car upon leaving the vehicle.

Please conform that in order to lock car and activate standard alarm I press the button on the door 'once' close the door and all done. If I press the button on the door twice deadlocks are activated.

Not quite.

Close the door and then press the button, this sets the alarm as discussed. In order to deadlock the car, you then press the button a second time - you should hear a beep.

If you are using the fob, I'm not convinced you are deadlocking the car, just setting the perimeter alarm.

I use it all the time, haven't lost a set of keys for this car yet !!

Regards

Keyfob and button works the same, press the keyfob lock button once for peremiter alarm and 2nd time for the deadlock. Hence the 2 lock icons on the fob's lock button , one grey and another in Red

To be honest, I don't think the manual is that obtuse ! Click/press once and it's locked. Click/press twice and its deadlocked. What else do they need to say ?

A Bit of a thread resurection here, so apologies. I agree that the manual is straight forward, but.....when I try to deadlock the car, my alarm goes off! I have the wing mirrors set to fold in, and the second press (door handle or key fob) stops them dead in their tracks and off goes the alarm.

Anyone know why this would be the case? Big Cry
