Reset Steering Angle Sensor |
|
Hi Guys,
My D3 has just been through a service/MOT and needed its front drivers wishbone replaced.
Was fine when it went in, comes out with an HDC Fault........ I have read that replacing the bushes/wishbones causes this and the steering angle sensor needs reset. I dont really believe in coincidences, so its probably the replacement of the wishbone which caused this!!
Is it true that you can reset this by going full lock both ways upon start up and then centralising? Or do you actually need a computer to do this?
Cheers,
Simon

my bushes were replaced and had 4 wheel alignment but didnt need the sensor resetting. maybe its just on its way out - have the fault codes been read yet ?
dont know about the lock to lock thing. sounds a bit like you are calibrating a computer game steering wheel Duncan

No idea about the lock to lock reset but seems wishfull thinking to be honest. Getting it reset sounds about right though. I needed mine reset after similar work.

Sounds a bit hopeful to be honest.
There's a YouTube video showing thats what you do for the Range Rover.
I'll give it a try later this week and tell you if its true............

I think that my Hawkeye (swear word on here I know as it's not a Faultmate ) unit has a steering calibration menu. Have not had the need to look at it but perhaps someone local to you has a machine? Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
