Hi Liston glad you got sorted in the end, dont want to hi jack your topic but thought it was a good one to add on to Thumbs Up I have a manual so my fault will be different Rolling Eyes just hoping its an injector or two I rang a lot of company's today trying to find one that I'm happy with and that can test the Siemens injector it seem there a bit of an odd ball injector and nobody wants to touch them, was just about to give up when I rang the last one on my list a company called lewson diesel injection Ltd spoke to a very helpful chap and when mentioned siemans and TDV6 I was waiting for oh,well, umm but to my surprise he answered straight away with confidants "not a problem send them in we will test them strip and clean if needed"which surprised me as a had a job to get anyone to test them let alone strip and clean which is probably all they need fingers crossed,so looking good ,was feeling a bit more confidant after speaking with them and more than happy to send them my injectors will keep you all informed of the outcome if your interested Thumbs Up

Posted them off today ,so they should be with them by 1300 tomorrow had a job finding a courier that would insure them for 2k Shocked Would of took a chance normally but with my luck lately there bound to get lost Thumbs Up

Woody.

Keep us informed as to how you get on.
Did you have any fault codes, or is this a stab in the dark..

Liston, bought D3 when it was about 2 years old and had the low pressure pump replaced, did think about the sensor on the rail, wasn't sure how much it was to replace but at £90 may change it if it happens more often. Thumbs Up

There is also a place in Edinburgh that Ade used last year http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic70976-15.html

"They were dropped into a local company; Lawson Diesel

Down near Ferry Road in Edinburgh

Apperently they are the only diesel injector specialist in Scotland who have a common rail test bed??

They refurbed the diesel pump on my 300tdi D1 about 3 years ago, and thats still running perfectly as well"

Thats the ones i'm using Dave Thumbs Up

Had a fault code logged something like no 3 injector threshold below min,I reckon i my of got some crap in the system when i rebuilt the old girl i was as clean as i poss could and put all fuel parts in individual new poly pockets but it doesnt take alot on these common rail system to cause a problem Rolling Eyes will keep you posted when i here back from them, they received the injectors today Thumbs Up

Liston
Hi yeah there is a low pressure pump in the tank had that out the other day as it was noisy give it a good clean and all was well.
I've had the car from new so can rule out bio fuel, miss fuel and that the main reason i went for injectors was the smoke on overrun and smoke sometimes on the first start up of the day the smoke stinks of fuel so was thinking the injector was leaking into a cylinder overnight and had to burn of the fuel when started first thing in the morning just hope i can get to the bottom of this without costing my a small fortune again Rolling Eyes as SWMBO is getting a little bit unset with me spending every spare penny on my car Shocked they just dont understand do they Laughing she even said the other night its me or the Censored ing car i just said thats easy then are grab my keys Very Happy now she knows who comes first and it begins with D and ends in 3 Rolling with laughter

I have 6 new ones from LR with less than 150 miles on them (ok very slightly used). At this moment it time they are part of legal discussions and I can't pass them on but if you need them ask and we will see at the time.

Update

Well I had a call today from the company that are testing my injectors and its not good I was thinking one or two might need replacing but not all 6 yes all 6 are u/s Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry They said all the nozzles/tips are badly worn Shocked And they can't get replacement tips ,but they did try.
So why are my nozzles so badly worn ,could a miss fuel have caused this Question 95% of my fuel has come from morrisons since I've had the car in 2005
So what should I do now,Sell the car as it is bear on mind I've just spent nearly 3k on a short motor flywheel and clutch,or throw more money 1.5k at it and fix it and hope nothing else goes wrong with it this year.

Does anyone know for a good price on injectors, cheapest I've found is £140 + vat each

Cheers all from one sick Big Cry

Woody

You won't get much for a poorly D3 so you need to fix it, then i would say you are best keeping it. Oh and my fingers are crossed Thumbs Up

I agree.
Much the same situation for me. New Clutch, dual mass, egrs blanked and a few other bits and pieces.
Now got this judder/missfore thing.
I have a warranty but it doesn't seem to cover most things that have gone wrong!

Woody sorry to hear your bad news but if you were thinking of changing you would have to spend a lot more than £1.5k and if you bought second hand who knows you may have to spend more! If you are happy with the motor, apart from recent spend, keep it! Thumbs Up

I am a bit clueless at the mow as to the exact cause of the problem. Confused
There are no fault codes - except one that is to-do with the egr's, which have both been blanked.
I have bought genuine fuel, oil and air filters to replace the non genuine ones used by the dealer at the service. Might get those fitted this weekend. If that makes no diff then I guess it is the injectors out and tested.
Which ever way I can see it being expensive. Big Cry

FYI, had no6 injector changed two months ago, then on its most recent service had them checked again which showed most of em at 1200 ish on idle apart from the newly changed no 6 which was at around 850.

took him in to these guys who tesed whilst on the car thoroughly as well as checking fuel pump pressure and concluded that at idle they were within 800 - 1300 tollerance as per LR spec and at driving speed were all balanced at around 1000, cost me £60 odd plus vat and a couple of hours of me time

Thumbs Up
