Squeak when turning off ignition

Every time I turn off my ignition I am getting a sqeak from the rear of the car.

I had the wheels off yesterday to clean and adjust the EPB and whilst off tried to locate the squeak.

It seems to be coming from the centre of the vehicle directly inline with the drive shafts above the rear diff area but i cant work out where.

any ideas - could it be the EPB actuator (I cant see why it would do anything unless the brake was applied), or the locking rear diff - again why would it do anything.

Obviously something is moving, but i cant worked out what...

any ideas/help Question Bow down

Is it on ignition off, or key removal? If the later, you're right it's gotta be something todo with the epb. but that sounds like something drag on the brake shield, you know the thin metal plate.

its when the ignition is turned off ie from pos II.

the EPB doesnt do anything when ignition turned off unless the actuator does some kind of reset.. it makes the same noise whether the EPB is ON or OFF.

even tried it when all the discs and shoes were off and it made the same noise. the epb cable doesnt move so i cant see what it is Confused

No worries,

where there is a squeak there will soon be a "bang" - so its just a matter of time Big Cry

Dunc, I have had a similar squeak when one of he drive belts was slightly slipping, could it be that the sound comes from that and through the vehicle chassis appears to come from the rear? Exact symptoms as you describe, turning engine off, key to position II... Just a thought Confused
