Coolant Level

Hi,

I had a look under the bonnet and noticed that my cold engine coolant level is just above the min line Sad

So much for levels being topped up prior to purchase!

Anyway is it best to purchase the orange coolant from the LR Dealer?

Cheers

As long as it was cold, it's right where it should be.

Oh.....right................It was very cold.

Sorry I thought it had to be near the top line Embarassed

I guess they did check the levels Smile

When do I top up...when it goes below the line?

Am I best purchasing the orange stuff from the dealer?

Cheers

In theory, you shouldn't need to top up the coolant - it should be fine until your first service. As long as you check it per the instructions in the manual, you'll be fine.

Thanks,

Its done 28900 in its first 17 month by the previous owner............worked for Land Rover.

It was serviced by Land Rover vehicle prep centre in Cambridgeshire July this year at 28788 miles. In the book it has an x in the coolant, brake fluid and anti corrosion part.

I guess I will just keep an eye on the level every couple of weeks. Although, I would hope the warning light would let me know if it needs topped up.

Cheers

So long as you keep an eye on the actual level. I would'nt rely on the low coolant warning. So long as its above the minimum you are OK.

I would buy yourself a litre of the Land Rover anti freeze, and mix it 50/50 with some water and keep it in the garage for top ups if necessary.

Land Rover anti freeze goes pink when mixed with water. It is some weird organic stuff.
