Warranty from Customer Protect
I am getting my first Discovery on Wednesday and to try and sweeten the deal the salesman has included a years free warranty with Customer Protect. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of them - good or bad.

My experience is that they are 'failure' warranties, I.e. they will not change failing bushes until the bush splits or shows excessive wear (even when an advisory on at MOT). Great for breakdown cover, but not for preventing failure.D4 SDV6 HSE 11MY - Gone

Wot he said!
If its a dealer bought warranty it will almost certainly only kick in if the vehicle actually fails and breaks down. It won't cover w&t or bits dropping off. I had one from a similar outfit when I bought mine and the small print was so full of caveats and limitations that it was barely worth the paper it was written on.
I'd read the small print and goggle them, but it will not be anything like a proper Warranty Direct type warranty. I bet the company providing it are registered in Gibraltar or somewhere else u can't sue them!
Remember regardless of whatever the dealer gives you they are ultimately responsible for selling you the car and any defects. The dealer buys one of these warranties to give you a bit of paper to make you feel better, and so he can fob u off it the car has a problem. But for 6+ months any defect is actually the dealer's problem irrespective of any "warranty". Have a look at your local trading standards website for more info.Tony
