| Can the cambers be adjusted or not? |

Hi all...
Have to ask this question again, sorry, following other discussions in the past.
In a nutshell, a highly reputable 4 wheel alignment specialist I used 2 weeks ago said their system directs them not to adjust the cambers as it says the manufacturer states they are not to be adjusted so they had to do it by loosening other things around the suspension.
I set off to France and it was awful, pulling to the right again.
The car is with them now. I told them it may be because some equipment doesn't recognise the old 04's and you have to set it to 2005/2009 EAS. They are looking at it now. I told them others on the forum said yes the cambers can be adjusted.
Now I've spoken to another 4 wheel alignment place another LR indi specialist reccomended and they say NO the cambers cannot be altered! These people I used a few months ago (did a fine job) but they are too far away.
Seems I'm stuck with a difference of opinion here and I fear I've told the place who have my car right this minute (Fri am) that everyone else says the cambers can be altered for the alignment!... I fear I may be causing a big issue!
Can I please ask for any opinions out there. (Yes, I know about checking suspension faults, tight tolerance mode etc)
Opinions/facts appreciated.

Yes they CAN be adjusted. It's just a bitch to adjust them and get them right!
On the wishbones, there is a off centre washer on the bolt for exactly this purpose.

Cheers Bodsy, BUT, why does equipment say they can't?...
Is telling the alignment people to adjust the cambers going against the manufacturers and putting them at risk or liability or is this the thing everyone else does it?

It just takes a while to do it right and the bolt is a pig to undo.

I now feel sorry for the guys down the road. I now imagine them all gathering under it scratching their heads and cursing!
I haven't the guts to ring and tell them what you said now!, I'll just leave them to do their best and figure it out. They say they do LRs all the time but just insisted they do it buy loosening other things. But, I don't like the idea of them touching my suspension. Took mine to kwik fit, was put on hunter and full laser alignment castor camber toe in and out, gave me print out of before and after and was allowed to wath them do it, all adjusted fine, steering spot on straight and no problems since, that was about 3 mnths ago and all is fine and the cost ..........£49.99 which I thought was a bargain

Well that is a bargain. Strange as there's such a variation of views and prices I've read about. Some over £600!
Anyway. Got the car back today and they were kind of good in a way. Once they set their equipment for 2005-09 as reccomended by another member here  they said they could then adjust the cambers, did the lot and got it all perfect. But, the the only thing they don't have is the kit to set it in tight tolerance mode etc and they checked the ride heights which they say are out. They said it's basically set right, but they think having ATS jack it up conventional style to change the 4 tyre recently mucked-up the ride heights and I'd have to of to a LR specialist to have it set right. They said the alignment won't be right until then, but did offer a re-alignment once I'd had the suspension rest properly.
It's driving pretty straight now. Steering wheel a tad to the left but will settle for now. They charged me £80 last time but today I found another place with Hunter kit and the thing to set it in the right mode etc but they want £170+vat. Maybe I'll just use it for a few more months and go to that place instead. Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black

Jim i did suggest you meet up with me and i would check and calibrate ride heights as well as set it to ttm before wheel alignment was done 
just read your first post again and i,ve got to say who ever your going to for advise on aligment is wrorng i would stop going there and listen to what ppl are saying it can be done

dont get me started on 4 wheel alignment and wallies who call themselves "specialists" in the high street.
Had it done twice within 3 weeks by TWO different centres in TWO different counties and BOTH got it totally wrong to the point that he was left ossilating from corner to corner until it went into shut down about a week later.
Took him to Westover LR, SALISBURY who re-configured the height sensors/steering sensors and did the alignment as well as sorting out the camber on the nsr/osr - best £125 plus vat I've ever spent

Geoff. You're right. My head went in a spin with a misjudge combination of thoughts...
1. I don't want to spend more than £60 to put right what my  wife damaged by whacking it up a kerb saying "but surely it's alright, this thing's meant to go over rocks" 
2. Me thinking back to work, short of time, need to get it done locally and didn't really want to bother you Geoff...
Really wish I did now.
These guys were good, once they had it in 2005+ setting (a good lesson to any 04/54 owners) but def not specialists and you just need one with the proper kit full stop.
I think this post is a another final tip for all..... stagy away from the high street merchants. Waste of time.
Plus it further verifies how much these things cost to run. £120+ for alignment vs £30 for a normal/boring car. Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black
