Will the Overfinch motor fit??

I emailed them with no response back. I was interested in doing some power mods to the LR3 as it seems to be a porker with a measly 300BHP. given the weight i believe it needs more.

also does anyone know if the 6spd auto gearbox is BMW. the gear ratios are identical to the BMW X5 4.4i (E53) except for the drive + the LR3 shifter looks VERY BMW...

any info0 would help thx

Think of us poor sods with a 'measly' 190bhp - can barely get it out the drive from my house in the mornings due to the lack of power! Wink

Gearbox is ZF. I think the same one is used by a few other companies too.

The 4.2 supercharged unit in the RRS will fit straight into the D3 if you want more power.

If you go this route make sure it the RRS 4.2 not the FFRR one as they are diffrent.

well I could get one in component form and you would have to build it.

No need to try to fit it, it will fit no problem as long as it's the RRS supercharged engine they are more or less the same as the 4.4 that goes into the RRS/D3.

an LR tech "told" me that the motor i have in the '06 is a Jag motor (engine code AJ-44)even though it is remotely similar to the M62 motor found in the BMW X5 & that the block is the same as the one used by Nissan/Yamaha for their trucks/suv's. so i guess it's safe to say that if i transplant the RRS 4.2 in (BMW motor) that i would most likely need the RRS's ECU as well??? or maybe i can just run a MoTeC M880 which is designed for CAN bus style vehicles...

The RRS 4.2 is a Jaguar engine too... So I'd guess that its ECU could work with little mods. Probably need the wiring looms for the rrs, etc.

You will find that you got the jag designed motor and it engine code AJ-141.

The AJ-44 is the FFRR supercharge unit.

The codes for the V8 are.

AJ-141 = D3/RRS N/A

AJ-142 = FFRR N/A

AJ-243 = RRS S/C

AJ-144 = FFRR S/C

There are others but they are the same just diffrent year models eg
AJ-171 is the same as the AJ-141 its just the 07 year model

Don't think it's the same block as Nissan/Yamaha either...

Well, Aston Martin is Ford too (we buld their engines in Belgium now). The blocks must be similar for the g/box to mate, but Ford doesn't supply Nissan. Got a very interesting wall chart on disc somewhere with engine manufacture locations (worldwide) and vehicle models supplied. I'll see if I can dig it out. Not sure if it's for 'public consumption' though. Confused

As far as I know the V8 petrol is a Jaguar unit and Jaguar design nothing to do with nissan.

The only diffrences with the LR V8 are the cc, the jag is 4.2 both supercharged and N/A the LR one is 4.4 N/A and 4.2 supercharged and the Jag one uses a dry sump system not a wet sump.

Alot of the engine is the same and they share alot of the same components.

The Aston martin V8 thats in the new V8 Vantage is also based on the Jag unit but with a cc of 4.3 and a few other power tweeks.

There is a new jag V8 due to be built in 2008 and LR will be using this unit aswell but not sure when, this V8 will have a cc of upto 5L.

thx everyone for the info. i really like this forum as most people seem to have extensive knowledge of the inner workings. i just want more power as i'm used to driving my EVO 8 with 325WHP but that car runs low 12's in the 400m...
