There is a polystyrene case for them, available from the dealer that fits in the side panel.

expensive though if I remember!

It does seem to have some reinforcement up the side, and a webbing strap to hold in place. Our Disco already had one fitted but if it didn't I would have. It's not the sort of object you want flying around loose in a crash..

Wrapped mine in plenty of bubble wrap and then inside the panel, although at the moment it lives between the gap between the 2nd and 3rd which is not good.

As long as it cannot move it surely can't damage the panel? I would have thought that can only happen if it bumps at speed against the panel. So filling the wheel arch space with bubble wrap would stop it from moving and secure it.

Would it fit under the 3rd row seats when they are down? Need to find out when it stops raining.

I thought I had wrapped it properly in bubble wrap until I saw the mark in the rear panel Big Cry

Will give local stealer a call and see how much the part is.

When not fitted I leave it in a locker on the caravan - no good I suppose if you tow more than one trailer (not at the same time Razz ) as I find it a pain in the wotsit to stow it in its cradle.
