Black smoke on accelration.... |
|
Hi Guys.
My D3 is blowing quite a lot of black smoke when accel.
I have seen it could be the hose between intercooler and engine, i will check that right away.
Any other places to search while im at it...???
The car is a D3 TDV6, 150TKM, running OK except for the smoke.....
Have a nice summer everybody...... 8)

Any symptomes regarding EGR valve or FU**** UP turbo, except smoke and loss of power (Turbo).
I dont experience massive loss of power, mainly only smoke issues.
Thanks for the super quick replies......

I just ordered the EGR blank off kit from Bell Auto Services. Maaaaann he is giving a quick reply......
Got a few questions, but he answered in minutes. Put in basket, thats it....
If the EGR is not the problem, it will probable be soon anyway.....
How much power is lost with a faulty turbo...
Sorry for all the funny questions, but i it is wifey's car, and i don't have a good feeling what 'is normal'......
I just deal with the problems and drive it thru the washing machine.....i am also allowed to pay for diesel....

Intercooler hose has to be favourite here, surely ......any drop in performance at all aswell? - remember sometimes the split is so small it may be difficult to see though. If you go for a direct replacement (ie not an aftermarket jobby), they are quite cheap.....in fact, saying that, I don't think even the 'posh' aftermarket versions are that much, are they? Thanks for the input guys.
It was the hose between intercooler and intake (RH side, the long one). There was a 3 inch crack, not easy to see, but easy to feel when hose was deinstalled.
Ducktaped it, and ordered a new one. I also received the EGR blank kit today.
Ordering, paying, shipment to Denmark in two days.......good job B-A-S...

Noticed some smoke on acceleration on motorway yesterday - quite a lot.
Read some posts on here.
Checked the pipe today - 4 inch split across the top - thanks DISCO3.
just need to order one now... Bonatti Grey with Tundra, Duratracs, DISCO3 sticker, De-badged then rebadged in black, EGRs blanked - still saving for IC and BAS remap...

Same as mine was a couple of weeks back - loads of smoke whenever load was applied to the engine. Replaced with a silicon intercooler hose from Bell Autos and all smoke is now a thing of the past. In fact, I'd always noticed a small amount of smoke under hard acceleration when my Remap was on, but had assumed (from other comments on here) that this was normal, but now there's not a puff, so I guess my hose had been the problem all along... 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)
