IGNORE Button?

On some other forums I freqeunt, there is an 'ignore' button, and when it is pressed, you dont see any of said ignored users posts/threads.

Is that something that could be easily implemented here? Whistle

Is this an option ?

BUT isnt that the point, when we see 'new post', WE can decide to ignore anything that is either from a section or members we dont want to read from.

if you really think it will help then OK, but what happens if something is added for discussion and you missed it because you allowed an automatic ignore that you set up.

examples:
I normally scan on a 12 or 24hr basis due to shift work and I will skip over the list, picking what I think is interesting to me; however if there is a short list or I am bored I will investigate items I have skipped only then I find some are quite interesting and others are full of Censored but at least I choose at the time of being online with the forum.

PS: Martin how much effort is required for this option against members just moving on to next item??

It's not an integral part of this forum package, as we currently run an old version that's been highly modified to support the other things that are used heavily - signups, vehicle profile, etc.

All the modifications to add "ignore user" functionality are clumsy and just don't see to work very well, which is one reason why it's not been put in place before, but I will take another look.

I love the friendliness of the site, for my tuppence worth I don't think an ignore button would improve anything. It just seems a little ... unnecessary to me.

I think the best way to ignore something is just look past it. Using an ignore function just seems a little unfriendly Shocked Very Happy

When using the ignore button, the other user doesnt know they are being ignored, and we dont have to put up with minute by minute updates of anything un-interesting that happened to anything Thumbs Up

Perhaps if someone exceeded 100 ignores it could flash up a message saying "you are not the contributor we are looking for".

Just saying. Whistle
