| Key fob not working/charging? |

Hi
(Firstly, I always struggle with the search on forum. Must be doing something wrong. Type 'Key' or 'Key Fob' and get a hundred posts about everything except keys! - not criticising the site of course!  )
So. 4 months ago when I got my old D3 one fob was flat and the other worked. Just assumed the flat one hadn't been charged for ages so I continued with the live one.
This week a few times it's failed to work. Eventually it has. Now, the usual one is completely flat and the car is now left unlocked 
I'm going to go out and try charging the flat one and see if it's just one faulty one but is this a known problem? perhaps fobs not charging?  Is there some maintenance thing I can do? Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black

Thanks ZacSmith. Had a good read.
The spare is charged and has started working, but I'm a bit worried if I'm stranded in the future. When going to France soon I'm going to take both fobs just in case I get locked out or can't lock it! Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black
