Various dash - board warnings

Hi, driving back home today after some gentle off-roading, suddenly got 3 warning lights on dash - 1 wee picture of disco with arrows pointing side to side and down (bottom left of dash), 2, orange handbrake warning and 3, sort of general warning exclamation - suspension lowered and text advising this appeared. Pulled in and swithced everything off to see if it would reset. It did but after about 10 mins driving same thing happened. THis time after swriching off, when I put ignition on again it said "transmission fault", then "HDC fault", then "suspension lowered". When I put the handbrake on, I got "Park brake fault" although it was working fine. 3 warning lights as detailed above were also on.
It seemd to drive OK so I drove carefully home without any problems or anything unusual apart from suspension being in lowered position.
ANyone have any ideas what might be causing this, or is it another trip to the dealers? Thanks, Alan

Check your brake light bulbs, brake light switch, could be wiring behind wheel arch, ABS sensor, break in wiring

Good luck Wink

I had the same problems, same warnings and symptons....Land Rover diagnosed it as the brake light switch... New one fitted and all ok
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

check the condition of your battery.

however, those messages can come on for a vast array of faults - i had the same sort of messages and it turned out to be the calibration of the locking rear diff - reqd software update.

This happened to me on the motorway last week. Every warning lamp seemed to light up and a stream of messages came up as you describe. Engine died. I pulled in turned off ignition and it started. Has been fine since. Quite worrying.

DAshboard warnings

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps - tried looking at most of them, but still had problem - sometimes could drive up to 10 miles before lights came on, sometimes only 100 yards. Eventually had to go to dealers - as with Grunders, turned out to be brake light switch sticking intermittently - new switch fitted and everything OK again.
Don't you just love Land Rovers - faulty brake switch and it tells you there's a transmission fault, HDC fault, park brake fault....and it drops the suspension - glad it didn't happen off road.
Still loving it though, so let's hope that's the last of the problems for a while.
thanks again for help, Alan

I had an Audi A4 S line Avant that flashed up engine management fault, ABS fault, went into limp mode and then stuck the brake lights permanently on.

That was traced to a break light switch as well. Just goes to show it's not just Land Rovers that suffer !

Needless to say the A4 was traded for my disco3. Best thing I ever did..

Thanks Bodsy - according to Beadles you're spot on.

I mentioned it at the service and they said they traced it to a blocked fuel filter and changed it FOC. So far so good.

I had a similar problem with the lights and suspension dropping down.

This turned out to be the steering angle!

They had replaced the whole steering column under warranty because of some play in the wheel, once they had finished all the work it seems they forgot to rest the angle!!

Simon.
