Geoff, fairly sure the only 3 engine options for the D3 were 2.7 TDV6, 4.0 V6, 4.4 V8.
So yours would be a 4.4 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

The engine is a Ford V6 4.0 petrol - same engine as fitted to the Ford Explorer in the US.
The V6 petrol sold in reasonable numbers in Aust and formed the main engine in the early base model S.

Also avail here in China (I test drove one engine sounds nice but...rice pudding..skin..pull..can't)
up until last year or so diesels were banned within the third ring road of many cities
now ok if they meet euro 5 spec (lorries not allowed in until after 8 at night)
so that's why the 4.0 V6 was an option.
but now tax changes mean an engine over 4.0 qualifies for 40% additional tax on top of other taxes (as apposed to the 30% I paid)making it cost 30.000 pounds more than the diesel.
so, more money for something slower and less frugal. bargain! It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
