Engine Light on dealer said 3% EGR valve

Hi sorry not sure about this one

I had a yellow light appear on the dasboard of my 2006 Discovery3 I have had the car 7 months and it has done 73000 miles and is the Diesel model.

When I check the book it says take to dealer to check the fault code - I did this and they said it was a EGR ( might have that a bit wrong ) but they said they put it on the computer and it came up with 3% which is nothing - They cleared it and took for a test drive they said should all be OK. They did say that if the fault read 50% then the car will be limited to 20mph until this is replaced.

Well I have the light back on again the car is driving fine - I am just worried about it, my daughter and I do a lot of towing and are alone. I got the car because it was the best for towing and I have to say I love it but I am having serious concerns on the reliability. Especially as the warrenty runs out ion November.

Is this part under warrenty should they replace this all foc.....

Thanks

RM

Sorry just checked and it is the EGR valve where they said was at 3% they cleared it and it should not happen again - Ha Ha

EPB I think yer reffering to, which is "electronic park brake" or handbrake to you and me mere mortals.

If you do a search on here you'll find loads of stuff but long and short is that you'll have to pay for it to be stripped down and cleaned with the back brake calipers being adjusted (of which yer LR dealer has a special tool for it) or the cable has stretched and needs replacing.

Labour is around 2 hours, should'nt need any parts if its just and adjustment, but will have to get the fault code cleared.

My only concern for you is to take him out for a 20 mile run and then put yer hand on the wheels to see which one is hotter than the others which will give you a clue as to whether you've got a brake shoe binding.

If so, then the binding will result in the brake shoe disintergrating while you're out and you'll feel the car shudder as if the wheels are not balanced, then yer in to new brake shoes as well. Word of caution, if the shoes do need changing best advice would be to get some NON oem ones but get LR dealer to fit them as there is a bedding in proceedure for rear break shoes

Thumbs Up

BTW, re-read yer post and thought for a moment, are you sure they were not talking about EGR as you mentioned the dealer said that it would go in to limp mode if greater than 50%, perhaps you might wish to ask the dealer again to clarify what was said as it seems a bit weird what you've posted Shocked

EPB wouldn't bring on MIL so would be EGR.
