Brake Vacuum Assistance Recall - VIN range extended |
|
All
I just booked my MY2005 D3 in for it's 90k service. They called me back to explain that it's also due some work under this Brake Vacuum Assistance Recall (Recall Action Number P017) as well which surprised be because I checked that no work was outstanding on the car via the TOPIx only a couple of months ago or so. I re-checked my VIN number in the system and sure enough this recall is listed as an 'outstanding field service action'.
The dealer was also surprised because they've had a couple back in recently where it looked like the recall work had been 'missed' but on closer inspection they found that the VIN range for this recall had been extended (now included my VIN).
Although I've had no hard brake pedal issues so far (touch wood until the work is done on Thursday) obviously it needs doing. I'd suggest re-checking of VINs to see if yours is now included - I guess regular checking of the VIN against the database is a good idea after all. I don't think the dealer would have contacted me otherwise which does concern me a little!

sorry - don't know what VIN range they've extended to it. Perhaps to all (per previous post) - not sure. If you are going to check yours anyway - can you let us know?
If not I'll try and remember to ask when they've done the work on Thurs and post here...

If you had the work done and paid for it recently you can get your money back. I had mine done a few months ago before the recall was properly extended (had been done in other countries) and I got my money back for the modification.

I e-mailed Stratsone in Hull regarding this recall, within minutes I had received a phone call and have confirmed that my D3 still needs the work doing. It is going in a week on Monday, discussed recent changes of staff and policies at Stratstone in Hull so will see how well they perform!
