Prevent a compressor failure?

Is a £4.00 part all that's needed to prevent a compressor failure? Sounds a bargain for a preventative measure but what does it do?

From Google, that part number is listed as an overhaul kit.

Don't know whats in it but would guess its gaskets for the cost

I was wondering about getting one myself to keep in the garage drawer for when it's needed... looks like they may be a dcecent supplier as well. Let us know if they they are any good.
