Help, I,am away camping and the tailgate has decided not to open??
Have tried the buttons on the dash, pulling , kicking but nothing!?!

Have you tried pressing the land rover button on your key fob. Worked for me when door packed in.....had to get new handle unit for top door.

Sounds like the dreaded broken tailgate release cable fault, seems a common enough issue with loads of info on here.

Try a search for "+broken +tailgate +release +cable"

Can you hear a click of the microswitch when you press the rubber release on the upper tailgate handle?

If you get another person to put slight pressure on the upper tailgate handle, as you would do when opening, and then press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the dash at the same time does the tailgate then open?

If the answer to both these questions is yes then you need to clean or replace the tailgate switch see http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic66951.html for further details.

You just need some cutlery (I used 3 forks with slight curves at the bottom of their handles), some long nosed pliers, an 8mm socket, a screwdriver, a small torx driver (not sure of the exact size), a 'choccie block' electrical connector, some wire cutters, n 'Ikea-style' allen key and a hacksaw with a metal-cutting blade. Oh, and a casual attitude to personal injury / a dislike of the backs of your own hands.

Then it'll take you about 30 minutes to sort it out. Full instructions are in another thread on here somewhere, as suggested above...

Did you press and hold both the lock and unlock on the dash for 15 seconds when you did the above?
