recommendation is to drive the first 500 miles at speeds not exceeding 68mph and 3500 rpm. (from memory !!)

I always give my cars a couple of thousand miles before pushing them hard. but if you take it easy should be fine at 500miles

I towed my 1850Kg tintent with ........................................ 25 miles on the clock Whistle

I have an email from the dealer stating that this would be no problem whatsoever and the verabl advice from him was drive it as normal from new! It's auto so shouldn't be laboured if left in D and yes, it towed superbly Thumbs Up

Worth checking the spec sheet for this when it arrives at the dealer. Difficult to tell otherwise whether it's there or not. You are supposed to be able to see the actuator on one side of the rear axle, but it's hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. The 4x4 display isn't much help. Even on vehicles without it, the lock is lit up green (open) when in special programs mode. One would think that it would be greyed out. On the LRE day I attended recently, I asked whther it was fitted to the D4 I was driving, as on a broken wooden plank bridge where one rear wheel ended up hanging in a hole it didn't make it without a brutal run up. They sent me through a diagonal ditch traverse and told the passenger to check the display. If the lock didn't turn red on the display then the car didn't have it (it didn't). Hard to test in a 'normal' environment though.....

Need to fit tow bar when I get the new discovery! I know it's being tight, but I am a Yorkshire man! Come on copper wire was invented in Yorkshire,, two men fighting over a penny,,,, Laughing

Anyway getting the 13 pin electrics free with disco, will be tapping into it to fit a 7 pin as well, it's my old trailer it's 7 pin and who wants to use one of those adaptor things.
I fitted a 13 pin socket to the disco 2! Tapped into the 7n & 7s sockets Whistle Worked well

The dealer that I ordered my D4 from a few weeks ago mentioned something about build delays due to engine problems when I spoke to him recently - mine isn't due to be built until mid-November - hopefully it won't spill over into the higher VAT rate ! Does anyone know any more about the problem ?

Probably a supply problem rather than an actual problem.

When I picked up my D4 in September, the dealer said that people ordering now (as in sept) would be lucky to see their car by February unless it they used the dealer allocation (or words to that affect).
