Secret code to allow new Nav destination while driving
In the US, on my new 2010 LR4, I am prevented from changing my destination on the Nav while the car is moving (and not in Park). This is a huge flaw, and I'm sure put in place by some lawyer.
I've heard rumor that there is a code I can type in that will override this. Anyone know the code and the sequence to get it going?
I would LOVE to bypass this!
Thanks,
Dave

'Secret Code' used to work on the older cars (pre 07MY) but it didn't work with the later systems past 2008 IIRC.The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

The systems are different in the D4...so it is very unlikely that the old D3 codes will work ...not sure anyone has found the D4 diag screen yet ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I do have voice control, and I have found a semi work-around for the Nav. Before you drive the car, input all your locations you want to go into the Nav, and save them as Memory points. Now, on each you saved, call it up, and using the voice control, save each in the directory. Once saved with a voice pattern in the directory, you can tell the Nav, via voice control, to switch it's Nav destination to one of these "saved to directory" Memory points, even while in motion.
Now, this doesn't help when you're on the highway, decide you want to navigate to an address that is brand new, but it does help a little.
Also, thanks for the link to the video on the diagnostics screen. I have to believe that's an important part of the puzzle.

The diagnostic screen is an overrated red herring. It won't help your issue.
I don't know what the implementation is in the US, but I guess that any form of "on the move" input is blocked. You are already onto the best solution......voice.

Concerning the change of destination on the map (keyboard input) while the car is moving, yes there's a way to do this. The process is similar to the one used to access the diag screeen:
1 - get into the Navigation home screeen;
2 - press the middle of the top horizontal bar for about 5 seconds;
3 - enter the pin # 1791;
4 - press the return button and go to the Nav home screen;
5 - Nav keyboard input while driving is enabled.
Hope it helps.
