Can anyone give me a simple explaination as to how the EPB works?
Does it act on the rear discs or is it a separate system behind the discs?
The reason being the local dealer stripped, adusted and replaced the rear EPB shoes yesterday, and now a can hear a slight squeaking/rubbing noise combined with worryingly hot rear discs after a 10 min drive.
Thanks

Take a look at Bodsy's superb Brake Bible, it's on his gallery. I recall the current updated version explains how they work and how to adjust them.

in a nutshell, its a drum brake which works on the internal hub of your rear brake discs

After looking at the (brilliant) Bodsy Brake Bible, I'm sure the EPB shoe bedding in procedure has not been done.
My blackview showed a short test drive with 1 stop of about 5 seconds.
The question is, if the bedding in has not been done, would this cause excess heat in the discs?

If they can't be arsed to bed them in then they probably couldn't be arsed to adjust them properly either, so I bet the EPB shoes are dragging on the disc slightly.
Get it back, tell them its not right. Give them a chance to sort it before you drop the "I know you didn't bed them in properly because I have it on video" bombshell on them.
But if you do have to drop it, drop it from an almighty height! 2014 D4 XS

If they weren't bedded in properly, then I really don't think it would cause the issue you have. Bedding in will just remove some of the shoes material to match the inner of the disk/hub.
It sounds as though they've not adjusted it properly and it's dragging.
Or it could be co-incidental and you may have another problem I.e. Sticky calliper
Either way you should take it back to get them to have a look at it. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thank you for your replies.
It's due back at the dealer next Friday for them to finish the transfer box and diff oils.
Do you think this brake problem is something that can wait till then, or does it require attention sooner?
