Engine management light and service indicator 'overdue' |
|
SWMBO rang me at work today to tell me the engine management light was on the dash. She also told me the service indicator is showing 2 days overdue (something that I knew)
Are the 2 related ?? There is no loss in performance or drivability of the car. It doesn't go to get you home mode or anything.
Think I may be off to Someone with a fault mate.
Anyone with any experience of this ???? Disco 3 TDV6 SE, black, de-badged, blacked out windows, cream leather interior, never seen a dirt track in its life.

As an extra thought to this. I put a K&N replacement panel filter in on Saturday. I did, however go to southport and back on Sunday with no problems after fitting. Disco 3 TDV6 SE, black, de-badged, blacked out windows, cream leather interior, never seen a dirt track in its life.

you're both on EU4 engines, I'm willing to bet that the EML is on because you have a fault with your GER Valve. No drop in perfromance just means that the EGR valve is stuck closed.
Not related Goofy (in terms of the service light coming on) but if the K&N is restricting or otherwise changed the arflow, its possible it may be related to that (but unlikely) more likely the EGR valve. Bodsys Brake Bible

It was traced to an inline fuse between the mass airflow sensor and the ECU.
I must add however, that along the way I managed to trap the mass airflow sensor wires in the air filter box when I installes my K&N filter and they rubbed through, shorting the fuse in the first place.
Between causing the fault and rectifying it, I had replaced the mass airflow sensor (because thats what the fault code was) without success, cleaned my MAP sensor, cut and shut the offending wires, spend £200 at the stealers, Met the very nice man that is Bodsy and had 6 hours diagnostics work done at my local garage and then took it to a local indy that fixed it in 5 minutes and then valeted my car to justify his minumum 1 hour charge.
Many miles (and much money later) shes still running like a dream. Disco 3 TDV6 SE, black, de-badged, blacked out windows, cream leather interior, never seen a dirt track in its life.
