URGENT - To Buy or Not To Buy |
|
Hi folks,
I have the opportunity of purchasing a 2007 D3 2.7TDV6 GS pursuit with 84k miles on the clock for £15.5k. I've had a mechanic check it over and he says it's fine but he's concerned about the higher than average miles.
The disco has full LRSH, four new tyres and has just been serviced. I haven't seen the car personally (I'm offshore) but my other half has seen and approves.
It has leather but no nav, no sunroofs and no multi function steering wheel.
In your opinion, is it a good buy and is there anything I should be aware of/expect to fail in the near future?
Thanks in advance.

I would be aware that there are better spec. models with lower mileage available for less!
Keep on looking.

2007 is good price, but check if you are happy with lower spec.
Don't worry about that mileage. Mines 2007 and on 80k. Bodsys Brake Bible

What's missing in terms of toys?
I'm aware there's no nav or electric seats, phone prep but is there anything else it's missing over the h/se?
It's very close to home for me too and while I appreciate that there are lower mileage examples about, it would take a train/flight to view and they may not be up to standard either. By all accounts this one has been meticulously maintained.
I'm torn and do like the toys of the HSE but more electrics=more to go wrong. Help!

IMO If you take the easy option you will have a D3 ....but is it the D3 you want ? It's not an insubstantial amount of money so I would make every effort to make sure I was making the right decision 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Other than Pistonheads, Autotrader, Fleabay and here are there any other good sites I would be able to trawl through?
Can't find one that I like and then when I do find one, the dealer doesn't get back to me!
Incidentally, the other pursuit has just been sold so I've missed out on it. Well, if it was meant for me it would still be available so I suppose the right thing has happened.
I WILL be a D3 owner one day soon!

DD.
Have a look at LR's site. You can "spec" the car you are looking for and then sort by price, mileage etc. I'm still looking for a used D4 HSE with less than 1000 miles on the clock. Every time I put a max of £30K, it comes up blank!!

Happy hunting.

Ok so its a zero off in the mileage and a Hse short, but whats a few letters or numbers anyhoo
As for the original question this one looks better and cheaper

If you are working offshore you will only drive it half the time as a "normal" person so fuel bills will not be a worry. When I worked offshore I ran a V12 jag over a year the cost is the same as a regular car It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
