My wheel nuts have marks close to the 'corners'. I can only guess this is where the socket causes pressure against it when tightening/untightening. Is a six-point socket better than a twelve-point as the sides on the six-point are 'flatter' and give a more even grip on the sides of the nut?
If my description is rubbish... sorry!

Ah yeah but why? there's a 6-pointer deep socket in my Amazon basket just awaiting checkout once I know the truth!

Full hex is always better than bi-hex unless you are in a tight spot!

I agree I always worry with bi-hex that under heavy load they will jump and cause damage. I use standard 6 socket on all heavy load bolts
