Faulty Cruise Control or numpty operator?
Hi folks
2006 D3 S
First trip on motorway this weekend and cruise control seem to be erratic in terms of being able to turn it on. Seems to turn on sometimes, then if I turn it off (on the steering wheel controls or brake) it wont turn back on until the ignition has been turned off then on again.
Check the manual and couldnt see anything obvious I was doing wrong.
When it does activate it works fine in terms of speed control.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for any replies
Cheers, Dan.

Bit out of warranty
What's a faulty clock spring and any idea what it might cost to fix?
Thanks for the reply

The clockspring is the Land Rover term for the rotary electrical coupler behind the steering wheel that links the fixed car electrics to the steering wheel. They cost about £200 (TLO was doing them for around £180 IIRC).
It may be worth getting the version that will allow a heated steering wheel to be added at a later date as this is the only silver lining when you face a £200 bill for the part alone.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Well known bug. Fault in the wiring loom.
Cheap part to replace. QTV500020 Wiring loom CC and audio steering wheel
Do a search for "Smooth steering wheel", I believe it was a group buy . This thread shows how to remove the airbag to get to the wiring loom.CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

I had the same thing. Dealer fixed it via a some sort of software upgrade. No parts needed.

Mine does it every-now-and-again. I cannot seem to work out the pattern of what triggers it. I think I will live with it though.

Mine was cutting out and not turning back on. New cruise control switches fitted and everything is back to normal.

Sounds like my issue..
Here's the problem.
I am driving on the highway and press the + (Set/Accel) button to set my cruise control. Half the time it will work and the little indicator light on the dash comes on telling me it's working. Then sometimes after initially pressing the + button nothing happens and subsequent pressing of any of the other buttons yields no response. Sometimes when the cruise control does turn on if I press the + or - button to change the speed, the cruise control won't respond. The car won't change speed. Then I press the on/off/Suspend button and the cruise control "does not turn off" The only way to turn off the cruise control if it becomes unresponsive when activated is to tap the brakes... This always turns it off !!
When the cruise control is active, it never will randomly turn off by itself. If it is responding to steering wheel button presses then it will turn off if I press the on/off suspend button or apply the brakes. When it decides to go into a coma while active, the only way to stop it is to tap or apply the brakes.
Any ideas on T/shooting the issue myself?2006 LR3 HSE
